TWO red P-platers from Glenwood were stopped at Scheyville on Saturday night after police busted them street racing. About 11pm Hawkesbury Highway Patrol saw two VW Golf GTIs on Scheyville Road, and detected they were travelling at 147km/h in a 70 area. The 17-year-old drivers were spoken to and both had their licences suspended and will appear at Windsor Local Court on December 7 charged with street racing, driving in a dangerous manner and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h. The vehicles were not registered to the drivers so the plates were not confiscated.
Drew attention to himself
A driver’s erratic driving attracted police attention on Sunday. About 9.30pm Hawkesbury Police stopped a white Nissan Navara ute in James Street, Windsor due to the occupant's manner of driving. Checks revealed he was disqualified from driving. The South Windsor man, 30, was arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station. He was later charged with driving whilst disqualified and was given conditional bail to appear before Windsor Local Court in December.
Thief nabbed by resident
A brave Richmond resident caught a man on Friday morning as he was stealing a car. About 5.30am a Bowman Street resident realised someone was stealing a car from the property. He chased him and the occupant reversed into a fence, causing extensive damage. The driver got out and tried to scale a fence but the resident grabbed him and held on. Police came quickly and a search of the man found other items believed to have been stolen from nearby vehicles. He was taken to Hawkesbury Hospital for blood and urine samples before being charged at the police station. The 24-year-old Richmond man was refused bail on a range of offences, including car theft, larceny and traffic offences.
High roller
A Glossodia man rolled his ute several times into a paddock on Spinks Road in the early hours of Sunday morning. It landed on its wheels enabling the 37-year-old driver to get out.
Police arrived to find the man still standing next to the vehicle. A positive breath test led to his arrest. At Windsor police Station his blood alcohol reading was 0.239. His licence was confiscated and he is due to appear at Windsor Local Court on November 30.
Wallet lost
An elderly resident’s black purse may have been stolen at South Windsor on Saturday. As it has pictures of the owner’s late husband police want help in finding it. It has three compartments, a foldover flap and silver clasp. Contact 4587 4099.
