Families believe cleric to blame for Barcelona attacks
In the Spanish mountain town where the Barcelona terror attacks were born, people want to know how it all had started.
The Spanish interior minister boasted on Saturday that the terrorist cell that had carried out attacks in the capital and a nearby seaside village has been "completely dismantled".
But at the centre of the mystery there are questions: how did a dozen young men from a small town - some friends since childhood - come together to plot in secret and carry out the deadliest terrorist attack in Spain in more than a decade, considering some were barely old enough to drive and most still lived with their parents. Sydney's water catchment faces rising loss to mining, contaminants
Coal mining in Sydney's catchment is having a "cumulative and possibly accelerated" impact on water flows but its full effect is unknown because of a lack of monitoring.
These are among the findings of the 2016 Audit of the Sydney Water Drinking Catchment, a study required by law every three years, that the Berejiklian government quietly tabled in parliament this month. Just a single copy of the report was available to borrow.
The audit, which covers the 16,000-square-kilometre catchment that stretches from Lithgow in the Blue Mountains to near Cooma and stores as much as 2.6 million megalitres of water, found "reduced water availability" compared with the 2013 report. Read more
Housing affordability: Is Airbnb to blame?
An estimated 6000 homes have potentially been taken out of Sydney's permanent rental housing market as landlords list properties on home-sharing websites such as Airbnb.
New data from the University of Sydney's Urban Housing Lab suggests the home-sharing website may be worsening housing affordability particularly in Sydney's inner city and coastal suburbs as well as the NSW North Coast.
An analysis of property listings in April 2017 found about 28 per cent of Airbnb listings were entire properties, while 70 per cent were rooms and shared rooms. Read more
The case for working 15 hours a week
A 15-hour work week sounds too good to be true. Especially when many Australians work excessive hours, often for no additional pay, and struggle with the cost of living.
Yet economist John Maynard Keynes suggested in 1930 that the work week would be whittled to 15 hours by 2030, according to Dutch writer and historian Rutger Bregman. A United States Senate committee report in the mid-1960s predicted the work week would be down to just 14 hours by 2000, with at least seven weeks off a year.
"I think it's just extraordinary," Bregman said. "Until the 1970s almost all the economists, sociologists, philosophers, you name it, believed we'd be working less and less and less. Read more

Aussie Aaron Mooy scores his first Premier League goal
Aaron Mooy's journey from being shown the door at Western Sydney Wanderers to the starting in the Premier League has reached a dream culmination, with the Aussie midfielder scoring his first goal for Huddersfield Town on Sunday.
With Huddersfield locked 0-0 with Newcastle in their first home game in the EPL, Mooy played a neat one-two with Elias Kachunga before unleashing a curling effort just inside the right upright, giving the visiting goalkeeper Rob Elliot no chance.
The score remained 1-0, handing the Terriers their second straight win to retain equal first on the ladder. Read more
Panthers win seven in a row and kill the Raiders' season
There's an argument the NRL's home-and-away season is far too long and it needs to be shortened by a month – but you won't be hearing that from Penrith.
A season that starts in the first week of March and climaxes on the first day of October is just enough time to start as equal premiership favourites, lose a handful of matches, dump players for off-field misbehaviour, deny theories about a "crisis", shuffle on players to other clubs mid-season and then suddenly strike form and win seven straight just as the finals loom.
