A 50-year-old man has died after he was stabbed while attempting to come to the aid of a woman and child involved in a domestic dispute with another man outside a home in Whalan.
Police believe the victim had gone outside to investigate the source of the disturbance when he was allegedly stabbed multiple times and left bleeding on the side of the road.
Emergency services were called to Waikanda Crescent about 5.30pm on Saturday.
The man, believed to be a neighbour of his alleged attacker, was not able to be revived by paramedics, and he died at the scene.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at a home nearby and taken to Mount Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with murder on Sunday morning.
A woman who lives nearby said she saw police outside the townhouses at the end of her street.
"There was a helicopter circling, this type of thing happens a lot," she said.
"The townhouses have a bit of problems."
The same street was the site of a shooting earlier this year.
The woman and child in the townhouse were not injured.
The 19-year-old man was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday.
