SHANE Mott was named Hawkesbury Cricket Club’s players’ player at the club’s annual awards night, which was hosted at the weekend.
Mott received the club’s most prestigious award, the Anthony Kershler players’ player trophy, named after yet another long time clubman.
Long time servant Dean Laing was also recognised for being the first player to record 10,000 club runs for Hawkesbury on Saturday night.
Josh Clarke received the players’ trophy for first grade, while Jaskaran Cheema, Shane Mott, James Salvador and Connor Mizzi were given the same awards for second to fifth grade respectively. Heath Shields won the award for the academy team.
Clarke also received the pointscore award, trainer of the year, batting average at 73.42, batting aggregate at 881 and the high score at 162.
Harry Ridgewell and Marcus Farqharson won the best and fairest awards for the Poidevin-Gray and AW Green Shield teams respectively.
James Salvador also won the wicket keeping award, thanks to 25 catches and a stumping during the year.
Shane Mott’s 35 was the best bowling aggregate, while Bailey Thompson’s 20 wickets at 11 was the best bowling average.
Club newcomer Toby Flynn-Duncombe was named the best fielder.
Matt Hollis was the player who best embraced the spirit of cricket, while club president Richards Timbs was named clubman of the year.
Former test bowler Len Pascoe was a special guest on the night. Pascoe bowled the first ball in World Series Cricket in the 1970s.
