The Kellyville-based Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association over-35 team are looking to continue a decade of success at the Netball NSW State Masters Championships.
Despite personnel changes throughout the years, the team has won three state championships and not finished lower than third since 2005.
After finishing second to Manly for the past two seasons, coach Lorraine Everritt said the side are eager to go out on top.
“It’s always a very good game but they’ve gotten the better of us the last two years and we want to avenge that,” she said.
“This is our last season in the over-35s because the girls want to move up into the 40s and we don’t feel that we’ve got anything left to prove.”
It has been a 12-year journey for the team with Mrs Everritt the main constant as coach.
Captain Gail Jackson is the longest serving member of the team after joining the side in 2008.
She said the team has fun but come game time, the team gets serious.
“We’re fiercely competitive, none of us wants to lose,” Mrs Jackson said.
“We’re not going for a fun weekend of netball. Lorraine makes it fun but, unfortunately for her, she’s got all of us and we want to win so bad.”
The State Masters Netball Championships will be held May 20-21 at Genea Netball Centre.
