A MENTAL health forum will be run on Thursday, May 18, by Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman.
The Labor MP wants to hear from people who have mental illness and their carer about how they think the Hawkesbury could better cater for or serve people with such diseases.
“Many people here in the Hawkesbury have spoken to me regarding their experiences with mental health services, and I have spoken to providers and people in the health system,” she said.
“Everyone agrees, there are some gaps.
“The challenge we have now is to identify the gaps from both the perspective of consumers and service providers.
“Some of the best health solutions come from the community and from the client-perspective, rather than from a doctor or someone sitting at a desk in a department in Canberra.”
Ms Templeman intends to hold a similar forum for providers of mental health services later this year.
