THE debate between McDonald’s and Hawkesbury Council about whether McDonald’s should build a footpath along part of George Street in South Windsor has been postponed again.
McDonald’s opened a restaurant on George Street about 12 months ago.
The area along George Street is not paved, and some councillors think a footpath would make it safer for youths from the Bligh Park area to get to the restaurant.
However, McDonald’s maintains it should not have to build the footpath, and should simply pay the usual developer donation fees.
On March 14, Hawkesbury councillors elected to defer the decision to a later meeting, after McDonald’s representative Rob Montgomery said Council had not written to him to advice of proposed changes to the agreement between Council and McDonald’s.
