There were positives and negatives to come out of last week’s draw against Central Coast Mariners.
First of all, we’re undefeated in three matches and we’ve now had our second best start to a season ever with five points from the opening four games.
In previous seasons we’ve gone on to make three Grand Finals and one AFC Champions League but that all came on the back of continual improvement throughout the season and we’ll be looking to continue that trend.
What wasn’t so good about Saturday’s match was the fact we let a lead slip once again. Having controlled play for much of the match, it was disappointing to let victory slip between our fingers.
It’s the second week in a row we’ve allowed that to happen so we’re very motivated to make up for it this Sunday against Perth Glory.
There is still much to be positive about with the chances we’re creating and periods of the match where we’re controlling the game well.
But we’re not going to be happy until we start putting teams away and consistently put together strong 90-minute performances. We have a strong record against the Glory with seven wins and only three losses but that counts for nothing when we’re on the pitch.
The trip to Western Australia is always a long one but we won’t let that be an excuse and we’ve shown in the past that we can go over there and win. We certainly appreciate the support of our loyal fans and we know you’ll be with us all the way.
