St John of God Hospital might be up on the hill at North Richmond but its elevated position above the town doesn’t mean it’s not a strong part of the community.
Caregivers at the hospital supported the Beyond Blue Bash last month, wearing blue and making a donation to support research into anxiety and depression, raising $212 for the cause.
As part of it’s community engagement, the hospital also has a band of cheerful, helpful volunteers to assist caregivers at the hospital, and they need you if you might be able to help with one of the following positions.
Administration assistant – in the medical centre fortnightly on Thursdays, 1-4pm.
Busdriver – Tuesdays. LR licence required. Picking up outpatients from their homes for a 10.30am group and returning them home at 3pm.
Driver – To pick up one outpatient on Tuesdays from Springwood at 8.45am and take them home at 3pm.
Transport assistant – helping passengers on the Tuesday outpatient bus.
Usher – Setting up and supervising movies shown to patients for entertainment monthly on a Saturday afternoon.
To enquire about any of the positions, contact volunteer co-ordinator Jane Uff on 4570 6269 on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Lastly, put Saturday, October 15 in your calendar when the hospital will be holding a Spring Fair for National Mental Health Week.
