At the age of 11 Ava Toms already knows exactly where she wants to be in the future.
The Agnes Banks resident has been dancing for the last seven years at Roar Talent Richmond and has just secured her first musical theatre role.
‘‘I have been dancing for seven years and I just love it,’’ Ava said. ‘‘I love performing on the stage.
‘‘I like that I get to do it with all my costumes, make-up and the different dance routines.’’
Ava auditioned for the recent stage production of Beauty and the Beast and was chosen as part of the children’s chorus.
She said she was surprised to be chosen because she had never performed in a musical before.
‘‘This year I thought that I just wanted to try out musicals, so I started taking singing lessons,’’ she said.
‘‘When I heard I was selected [one of 24 out of 300 who auditioned] I was really excited because it was my first audition.’’
Ava’s mother, Natasha Toms, said she couldn’t believe it either when Ava was selected.
‘‘I am really proud of her,’’ Mrs Toms said.
‘‘We just love being able to see her doing something she loves so much.’’
With her first musical production under her belt , Ava told the Gazette she hoped to continue dancing and performing in the future.
‘‘When I get older I want to go in a lot of musicals,’’ she said.
‘‘I also want to own my own dance school.’’
