The Christmas in July Charity Day at Hawkesbury Race Club on Sunday, July 20, was a huge success, raising a total of $84,000.
Sponsored by Evergreen Turf and Dad and Dave’s Turf, the funds raised will be distributed between the Hawkesbury Living Cancer Trust — $54,000, and the Coonamble Cancer Trust — $30,000.
Hawkesbury Race Club sponsorship and marketing manager, Vivienne Leggett, said there were more than 2000 attendees and everyone enjoyed themselves knowing the day was for a good cause.
‘‘The continuous effort and support of the community, trustees, sponsors and donors has helped us raise funds and awareness for an important cause,’’ Mrs Leggett said. ‘‘The day wouldn’t have been possible without their help.’’
The Hawkesbury Living Trust now has well over $1.5 million in the account ready to provide oncology services in the Hawkesbury. Funds raised for Coonamble Cancer Trust will assist with transport and accommodation for residents and patients needing to be treated for cancer in Sydney.
