Get ready to make a splash

Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre will be open to the public on August 11 but Learn To Swim participants will get to test the waters a week earlier.

Hornsby mayor Steve Russell said final tasks include painting the building’s exterior, landscaping the forecourt and installing Wi-Fi.

■ heated eight-lane 50-metre outdoor pool;

■ outdoor seating for 500 spectators;

■ heated indoor pool for learn-to-swim activities;

■ gymnasium;

■ heated leisure pool with fun water features for the kids;

■ a two-metre-high enclosed water slide for kids;

■ a kiosk and café;

■ child minding service;

■ 100 on-site car spaces; and

■ lifts to all levels.
