GALLERY: Kellyville students take Sydney Eisteddfod spotlight

Talented 2014 Sydney Eisteddfod competitors from The Hills got some public stage practice in the lead up to the event.

Kellyville residents Sarah Cume, 8, and Tamsyn Willey, 11, were among the five young performers who took part in the ‘Spotlight on Stars’ showcase at McDonalds Kellyville today.

Rouse Hill resident Emily Cruceanu, 10 — who last year played a munchkin in a Packemin Production of The Wizard of Oz — and singers Bernadette Marquez and Jaqueline Attard also performed in the showcase.

McDonald’s Kellyville licensee Mark Halford said the company had invested in the future of Australia’s performing arts through the Eisteddfod for the past 26 years.

“Our Spotlight on Stars celebration is our way of supporting our local performers from the Hills region... and giving our performers a stage to practice on before the big event in the coming months,’’ he said.

The Sydney Eisteddfod draws about 10,000 group and solo entries each year across 331 events. Entries are now open.
