Teenage girl indecently assaulted in Emerton

A teenage girl was indecently assaulted in an Emerton shop on Sunday, June 22.

The girl,14, was inside a store of a shopping centre on Bunting Street at about 10.30am when a man approached her.

The man started a conversation with her and police have been told the man asked her personal questions before indecently assaulting her.

The teenager left the store and told her mother about the incident, before they reported the matter to police.

Police commenced an investigation and have released a description of a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, over 183 centimetres tall, with a muscular build.

Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
