'Great Fete' on its way to Samuel Gilbert Public School

Football jerseys replaced school uniforms as the students of Samuel Gilbert Public School held a "Football Frenzy" mufti day on Thursday to raise money for the school's major fundraiser, the Great Fete.

In return for wearing soccer, AFL, rugby or other sport team colours, students donated a raffle prizes or gold coins towards the school's fete, which is taking place on Sunday, August 17.

The Great Fete will include 15 carnival rides, international food court and market stalls. It attracts over 6,000 people every year.

"The school community is hard at work preparing for the fete," said relieving principal Cathie Barclay.

Profits from the fete will go towards school resources such as classroom technology, infrastructure and the upgrade of outdoor learning areas.
