Members of the Hawkesbury Chamber of Commerce met with business owners in Bilpin to launch stage two of the Shop, Stay, Play, Support Local Campaign in Bilpin last Friday.
Designed to rope in tourism dollars, the campaign also encourages residents to shop locally and give local businesses an opportunity to reinvigorate their ways of attracting customers.
The Shop, Stay, Play, Support Local title aims at doing just that, by boosting the profiles of all Hawkesbury small towns and villages, attracting people to the area, and encouraging them to stay locally, shop locally and play locally.
Chamber president Jason Pilgrim said they received ‘‘fantastic enthusiasm” from the Bilpin community.
“We have so many great small businesses located in Bilpin and because for many people they are a little away from our daily movement, it can easily slip our minds to get there and support such a beautiful area of our community,” Mr Pilgrim said.
“Bilpin has also been doing it very tough since the recent bushfires and so it is very important for the Chamber of Commerce to show our support and ensure we assist where we can.
“I know personally, that chamber members and executive members have already been ensuring extra money is being spent in Kurrajong since our official start two weeks ago and even just from our launch in Bilpin on Friday, several of the businesses have received an increase in revenue because of this campaign.’’
Mr Pilgrim said the next launch for the Shop, Stay, Play, Support Local campaign will take place at Wilberforce Shopping Village tomorrow, Friday, June 6.
He said HCC encouraged anyone wanting to get involved to contact the chamber to ensure they keep momentum up.
