STAFF at a Windsor home care service will be lifting their cups for Australia’s Biggest Morning on Thursday May 22, to help raise vital funds for cancer prevention, research and support services.
Since 1993 people all over Australia have gathered in living rooms, community centres, schools and workplaces to celebrate Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
From humble beginnings the event has grown to be one of Australia’s most popular fundraising events, enjoyed by more than a million people each year.
Wendy’s Home Care general manager Alannah Norman said they were proud to be taking part in the event.
She said they were looking forward to raising some much-needed funds for the Cancer Council, as several of their staff had battled cancer, or were caring for someone with cancer.
‘‘We are privileged to support families in their home when cancer strikes and we see first-hand the devastating effect this terrible disease has on people’s lives,’’ Ms Norman said.
Tomorrow is the official tea party day, but anyone interested can host an event any time in May or June.
This year the Cancer Council aims to recruit 36,000 morning tea hosts nationally to support prevention programs, research and support services including the Cancer Council Helpline 131120 for all people affected by cancer.
