Victorian wins Castle Hill Country Club's Pro Am

Victorian golfer Chris Gaunt won the 10th annual IC Frith and Associates Insurance Brokers Castle Hill Country Club Pro Am two day golf tournament recently.

On March 17 and 18, more than 150 golfers, including amateurs and 85 of Australia’s best professionals, teed off on Castle Hill Country Club’s championship golf course.

Competitive teams, including a number of leading touring golfers together with local professional Paul Gow, businesses, members and sponsors played for the major prize money of $35,000.

Gaunt won with a score of 135, and an incredible 9 under par.

Runner up was Anthony Summers from NSW and in third place, last year’s champion, Steven Jeffress from Queensland.

The club’s general manager Melissa Ellis, said the two day Pro Am golf tournament was ‘‘an all-round success, the biggest and best yet, showcasing many talented golfers among our local businesses, corporate sponsors and partners’’.

‘‘It was a great community feel for everyone playing, and to be alongside some of the country’s leading golfers was a highlight for many,’’  Ms Ellis said.

Last year’s Pro Am was recently awarded the 2013 NSW/ACT PGA City Pro Am of the Year at the annual PGA awards.

Coming up at the club is the 2014 US Masters Golf Tournament breakfast and broadcast on Monday, April 14.

Join join in a buffet breakfast and enjoy the climax of the tournament live on the giant screen, followed by a round of golf.
