Woman driver killed in Arcadia

A 65-YEAR-OLD woman has died and a man was flown to hospital following a head-on collision in Arcadia overnight.

About 5.15pm yesterday (March 27), a silver Holden utility and a white hatchback collided head-on in the rain at Wylds Road, near the intersection of Old Northern Road.

A CareFlight trauma doctor said a woman (the hatchback driver) and a man (driving a utility) were trapped in the crash.

Police, the Rural Fire Service, Fire Rescue NSW, CareFlight and ambulance units responded but were unable to revive the woman driver.

The man, believed to be aged 50 to 60, was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition, with back and chest injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police from the Northern Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating and will prepare a report for the coroner.
