Lightning strikes Baulkham Hills man

A BAULKHAM Hills man, 65, was hospitalised after being struck by lightning during Friday's electrical storm.

Winston Hills Mall shopping centre was also struck by lightning about 5pm.

Fire and Rescue NSW said they received a triple-0 call to a home in Cropley Drive, Baulkham Hills, about 5pm.

The fire crew administered first aid on a man struck by lightning until paramedics arrived and took him to hospital.

Fire and Rescue helped make safe an area of Model Farms Road, Winston Hills, where wires had fallen about 4.50pm.

A spokesman for Winston Hills Mall said the centre sustained "minimal damage" and all shops continued trading despite the lightning strike.

"We lost a motor on an air-conditioning plant and there was a fault on a travelator," he said.
