GWS Giants destroy St Kilda

THE Western Sydney Giants bought Israel Folau to be a focal point and he was responsible for most of the publicity the fledgling club gained.

But Folau wasn't happy in the AFL and it would have taken him seasons to adapt.

The Giants must look at the way Folau has become the poster boy for Australian rugby union and the target of young autograph hunters — and dream of what could have been.

At least they've compensated with their most significant win, the fourth in their two-and-a-bit season existence.

They beat St Kilda by 68 points in their NAB Challenge match in Wagga Wagga on Saturday, and it was a big step forward.

"When we preach everything through November, December, January about what we're trying to achieve, and then you actually see that come off in a game, it's a great boost for us," said coach Leon Cameron.

"We understand we're a developing side, we know where we're at, but we were rapt with the way we went about it against Sydney [last week] and obviously today is another performance in the right direction."
