Anti-violence move

A new anti-violence campaign launched by NSW Ambulance and ClubsNSW was a key point of discussion at a summit in Emu Plains last week. ClubsNSW representatives met managers of western Sydney clubs to discuss the campaign to ensure local clubs remain the safest venues in NSW.

The "More than a Uniform" campaign reinforces the message that violence against a paramedic is never OK. More than 130 paramedics were assaulted or abused on the job across NSW last year.

Independent schools

Lindsay MP Fiona Scott urges public schools to consider the federal government's $70 million Independent Public School initiative.

This will help government schools become more independent by increasing their own governance and community engagement.

The government will work with teachers and parents to focus on quality, principal autonomy and strengthening the curriculum.

Floating sculpture

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia and the Western Sydney Parklands Trust want performers for an art project. On May 17-16, Bungarribee Park will be lit overnight by the spectacular sculpture, Sleepers Awake, which will float 80 metres off the ground.

Expressions of interest are sought for entertainers from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on a stage beneath the sculpture. Applications close Monday, February 17.
