MOTORISTS may do well to steer clear of Brookhollow Avenue, Baulkham Hills.

The Hills mayor Michelle Byrne said the western access would temporarily close for up to four months from February 7.

‘‘This means that businesses in Norwest will have to re-think how they operate,’’ Cr Byrne said.

‘‘They will have to enter and exit Brookhollow via the eastern intersection with Norwest Boulevarde, which is near the Atlas building.

‘‘Obviously this will have flow-on effects around the business park.

‘‘Businesses could look at options like staggering work hours.’’

She said the road closure was necessary for North West Rail Link contractors to get on with the job of building Norwest railway station.

According to council’s October traffic committee meeting minutes, the work on Brookhollow Avenue would include:

■ installation of No Stopping signs along the length of Brookhollow Avenue (southern side) except in front of the Adina Apartment Hotel, and outside 28 and 30 Brookhollow Avenue, the length of the Norwest Station construction site (northern side) and on both sides of the two landscaped median islands; and

■ installation of a centre line and edge line marking for the length of Brookhollow Avenue.

Passers-by would have noticed digging already happening at the Brookhollow/Norwest Boulevarde intersection roundabout.

A spokesman for the Rail Link project team said the roundabout was being made smaller to enable two lanes of traffic to drive through.

Australia Post said the coming road closure would not affect their retail shop in Brookhollow Avenue in any way.
