As a director, the Carlingford resident is starting to makes waves in the entertainment industry.

In December Breckon made her directing debut with the 10-minute play, In Da Club.

This year, Breckon is well into directing two wildcard plays in Short + Sweet— a festival which includes more than 170 short plays, cabaret performances and dozens of dance routines.

Her first play, The Bet, will be performed from January 25 to January 27 at King Street Theatre, Newtown, and looks at the different attitudes to winning and losing.

Her second play, The Violin Player, also at King Street Theatre, will be performed from February 8 to February 10 and follows the story of a man called Pietro who goes on a journey to meet his real father.

Breckon said she was enjoying her new role as director.

"I really love it," Breckon said.

"It's amazing to see the ideas in your head come together during rehearsals."

Breckon said working as a director provided her with a different perspective on acting.

"It's an eye-opener," she said.

"When I was casting for the roles I saw so many amazing and fantastic auditions. But I couldn't give these amazing actors a role because they didn't suit the part.

"For me as an actor, when I get turned away from auditions, it wasn't because I was a bad performer. I wasn't what they were looking for."

Breckon started her career in the entertainment industry in 2003, starring in many films.

One of the her roles included starring in the short film, F*Dance, which took top spot in the 48 Hour Film Festival in New Zealand in 2008.

Lord of The Rings director Peter Jackson selected the film to feature in the finals round of the competition.

"It was just so amazing," she said. "We were in the media and all over TV."

Her most memorable moment to date was working alongside James Cameron in Avatar.

"Just to have James Cameron stand next to me and to see how he worked was just a memorable moment," she said.

"It really put me on the path to be an actress."

To add to her extensive resume, Breckon is currently working on her first feature film script with the goal of starting production in June.

The script, Perfectly Safe, follows an out-of-control teenager who becomes abducted by an international child porn syndicate.

Breckon said it was an ambitious goal but she would attempt to make the film happen.

"I figure after having five children anything is possible," she said.
