HAWKESBURY’S boy band sensations, 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) have taken the UK by storm.
Since the release of their first single Out of My Limit last November the band of four — Calum, Luke, Michael and Ashton — have pursued fame overseas.
They have been living in London for the past three months recording and preparing their upcoming album for their fans across the world.
Significantly, the band has been writing songs with Adam Argyle and Fiona Devan, who wrote One Direction’s hit song Little Things, with Ed Sheeran.
The Hawkesbury boy band will release their new single Heartbreak Girl in coming weeks and their album will be released sometime this year.
But the boys are still calling Australia their home.
All four members of the band regularly update their Twitter and Facebook accounts, stating that they miss Australia.
The band has been keeping family, friends and fans around the world up-to-date with video diaries on YouTube.
The two YouTube videos uploaded have reached more than 15,000 views each so far.
But their time in London hasn’t been all about working hard and keeping their fans updated. The band was also seen playing a game of football (soccer) with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles last week.
Harry posted a photo of 5SOS, Louis and himself on his Twitter account, captioning it as “Louis and I gave the @5secondsofsummer boys a footballing lesson.”
It’ss been noticed that the Aussie boy band have been spending a lot of time with the UK super group, with 5SOS drummer Ashton Irwin posting a photo of the band ‘hanging’ with One Direction’s Niall Horan in the studio a week beforehand.
Ashton captioned the photo as “hung out with Niall from 1D the other day. What a nice dude.”
After the boys spent time with Niall, Niall tweeted “met up with the @5secondsofsummer lads today. They’re in the UK making tunes. Super nice guys,” proving the friendship between the two groups is strong.
When the Gazette first started following the boys’ success back in July, the band’s Facebook page had more than 49,000 fans. Now six months later they have reached more than 63,000 dedicated fans following their page.
5SOS have gathered fans from Norway, America, Spain, Argentina and it seems clear the list will go on.
