Your new company
Peak industry body in financial services sector that represents its’ members interests and develops industry positions through government lobby, public affairs and industry forums. A new opportunity has arisen for a policy advisor to join their team. Supporting a team of senior policy advisors, you will be responsible for assisting the organisation in various policy activities for a range of complex matters.

Your new role

  • Identify policy issues relevant to the industry in consultation with key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of strategic policy initiatives affecting members
  • Assist in preparing policy submissions to support the achievement of industry goals
  • Identify and maintain relationships with regulators, government and political representatives
  • Keep member representatives informed of industry issues, concerns, strategies and plans
  • Maintain awareness of international developments in key areas of regulation of the industry
  • Support a team of senior policy advisors in the timely delivery of their project outcomes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant experience in policy development
  • Demonstrated skills in the research, analysis and formulation of public policy
  • Ability to contribute to the formulation of strategic policies and initiatives
  • Capacity to build effective relationships with key stakeholders across an industry
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to influence government representatives
  • High level written and oral communication skills
  • Actuaries experience beneficial
  • Tertiary qualifications in either law, finance, economics or politics
