CHRISTMAS is a wonderful time of the year to donate and give hope to Australians battling tough times.
Hawkesbury Council is once again holding its Mayoral Christmas Appeal, and Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert, is asking people to help the Salvos by donating presents.
“This is the first year that the Salvation Army has been the nominated charity for the Mayoral Christmas Appeal,” the Mayor said.
“Hawkesbury residents have rallied together to provide hundreds of gifts over the years to the Mayoral Christmas Appeal to help those who struggle at Christmas time.
“I know that this generosity of spirit continues in the Hawkesbury and I thank everyone who can help the Salvos to help others at this special time when those less fortunate are struggling to make ends meet.”
People are asked to give gifts for both children and adults of all ages, however this year there is a special request for gifts for teenagers aged 13-18 (girls and boys), as well as for adult males - as traditionally there are less gifts donated for these groups.
All presents must be unwrapped so the Salvos can match the gifts to the people who will enjoy them most.
Presents can be dropped-off at any of the following collection points:
- Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor
- Hawkesbury Central Library, Deerubbin Centre (Ground Floor), 300 George Street, Windsor
- Richmond Branch Library, 29 West Market Street, Richmond
- The Salvation Army Office, 290 George Street, Windsor.
Presents should be delivered to the collection points by Thursday, December 20.
