It’s been 12 months since the Hawkesbury Gazette embarked on its unique Hawkesbury 100 Faces photographic project, and now it’s time for people and their pets.
Gazette photographer Geoff Jones is embarking on a fascinating new project to show the unique relationships locals share with their pets, whether they be everything from horses to hamsters.
“The Hawkesbury 100 Faces exhibition was a great project that created a lot of engagement within the local community, so we thought we needed something that could follow on from that,” Mr Jones epxlained.
“There’s so many types of animals in the community of the Hawkesbury, from horses, to dogs and cats, ferrets and rats, and there are so many stories their owners can tell about them.”
The project will involve members of the community sending in pictures of themselves and their pets, including a brief description of the special relationship they share together.
A total of 30 people and their pets will be selected to be included in the project, with an exhibition planned for the future.
“I love the connection people have with their animals and you get good pictures out of that, the love and affection people have for their different creatures,” Mr Jones said. “I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Gazette editor Matt Lawrence said he was looking forward to seeing the results of the project.
“As a pet owner myself, my girl Rosie is more than just a dog she is a member of my family,” he said. “And the one thing I don’t have is a good picture of her.
“We have couple of really big plans for this.”
Those who would like to be considered for the exhibition should email their name, contact number, a picture of themselves with their pet and a brief explanation of the story behind the relationship with their pet. Pictures should be in jepg format and be no bigger than 3MB file size. Pets can include dogs and cats, however unusual and unique pets are also encouraged.
