Offspring actress Jane Harber is not a movie buff, by her own admission, but has still agreed to have her skills tested for a new game show.
Show Me The Movie, hosted by Rove McManus, has just started airing on Network Ten and is pitting teams of celebrities against each other to test their movie knowledge, in the style of music show Spicks and Specks.
"It feels like you're in Rove's lounge room having a dinner party, playing some games," Harber said.
"So I feel like Spicks and Specks was pretty casual and invited you to want to participate and be interested in the music they were talking about. Hopefully this does the same for films."
Harber, who played Zara on Offspring, is a team captain pitted against comedian Joel Creasey and whoever else ends up on their teams each week.
There's a really solid amount of full-blown competition," Harber said.
"Joel and I are team captains, so we'll be there every episode and then we have two other guests on our side. There will be international stars on it some weeks and people from all different genres of film and television and eras, we've got a range of ages and also people who are stand-up comics.
"Joel is very funny and sassy. And Rove is a genetically-engineered quizmaster."
The show has a mixture of games designed to test its contestants on their movie knowledge.
"Some of the games are the same each week, some are different but it's a pretty standard movie game night. There are games that incorporate movie clips but then there are also games that are celebrity-driven and fact-driven. There's a speed round of trivia and then there's also physical challenges as well," she said.
Harber loves games and considers herself a bit of a gamer, but says she's not a movie buff.
"I only know about the films I've watched a lot of times. I wouldn't say I'm a movie trivia expert," she said.
"The thing about this show is some people are in just for the win, whereas some people are in for the fun and you see the people who are in for the win very quickly. I get it because I want to win too."
