A RHYS Whybrow century has helped Riverstone into the Hawkesbury District Cricket Association final, where the club will play last year’s premiers Bligh Park.
North Richmond put up a good fight in the rematch of the 2016-17 final at the weekend, but fell short of Riverstone’s total, losing by 25 runs.
The match featured two centurians, Riverstone’s Whybrow and North Richmond’s Ben Cain.
North Richmond’s Russell Thorpe was the leading wicket taker for his team with three, while Jacobsen led Riverstone with four.
Whybrow made 135 in the match, while Cain made 107.
Meanwhile, Bligh Park had a narrow first innings victory over Pitt Town to qualify for the final.
Bligh Park scored four more runs than Pitt Town in the first innings to secure the victory.
Rob Barker was the top scorer for Pitt Town in the first innings with 47, while Mitchell Reagan scored 55 for Bligh Park.
Mick van der Reydon and Mathew Grayson both had four wickets each for Bligh Park and Pitt Town.
The final will be played over two days at Bensons 2 at the weekend.
Both clubs will be playing for their second first grade premiership.
Bligh Park won last year after a draw with North Richmond.
Bligh Park scored a massive total and North Richmond could not get anywhere near it, delivering the premiership to minor premiers Bligh Park, after they lost the previous two finals.
In the 2015-16 season, it was Riverstone who triumphed over Bligh Park, in a tight content.
Bligh Park were also runners-up in the 2014-15 season, in that match the club lost to Richmond.
Lower grades
As for the lower grades, Schofields and Wilberforce will clash in the second grade competition.
Schofields had a narrow win over Bligh Park while Wilberforce did enough to topple Maroota.
In third grade, Freemans Reach and Wilberforce will contest the final.
Zach Greentree scored a century for Freemans Reach as they defeated Schofields, and a half-century to Wilberforce’s Brad Payne helped them defeat Pitt Town.
In fourth grade, Shaun Turnbull scored a century for Riverstone, which helped them defeat Wilberforce.
Riverstone will play Freemans Reach in the final, after a solid performance over Bligh Park, including a five-wicket haul by Jason Horne.
Finally, in fifth grade, the final will be played by Richmond and Wilberforce.
Richmond comfortably chased down North Richmond’s total, winning by five wickets, while Wilberforce, and a Thomas Dobson half-century, defeated Schofields.
Junior finals
The finals for the junior grades were held over the weekend. The results for those games can be seen on pages 58 and 59.
- In the under-15s, Pitt Town defeated Bligh park in the final.
- In the under-13s, Freemans Reach defeated Wilberforce in the final.
- In the under-12s, Schofields defeated Bligh park in the final.
