A 17-year-old woman has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after she was injured when three cars were involved in a collision in Berkshire Park this morning.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked at 10.05am, landing in a paddock next to the scene on St Marys Rd, Berkshire Park.
Police closed the road and multiple units from the Rural Fire Service, NSW Fire & Rescue and NSW Ambulance were on scene, with ambulance paramedics treating the injured.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the most seriously injured patient, a 17-year-old woman, for lower limb injuries.
A CareFlight trained volunteer first responder who was on scene with the RFS was able to assist CareFlight’s medical team. Utilising skills learned with CareFlight MediSim trauma workshops, he safely held the patient while she remained trapped in the vehicle.
Once freed from the vehicle, CareFlight’s critical care team took the woman by road ambulance to Westmead Hospital.
