A search is set to commence this morning for a bushwalker missing in bushland at Kurrajong Heights, north-west of Sydney.
The 54-year-old Kurrajong Heights man began a bushwalk with a friend about 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 27 February 2018), walking to Wheeney Creek and Lagoon Creek where they separated about 3.45pm.
The friend last had phone contact with the missing man about 4.30pm and, when family members’ efforts to locate the man were unsuccessful, police were contacted about 9.30pm.
It’s believed the man’s phone battery could be flat; however, he does have water and appropriate clothing.
Due to nightfall and the topography of the area, police were unable to search the area overnight.
Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command together with rescue coordinators from Blue Mountains Police Area Command will commence a search of bushland this morning.
