Fergie has been derided for her performance of the US national anthem at a basketball game.
Singer Fegie has left fans at an All Star NBA game bemused with her controversial televised rendition of the National Anthem.
The eight-time Grammy Award winner sang a slowed-down version the Star Spangled Banner with gusto on Sunday but hit some conspicuously wrong notes.
Although the performance had some supporters, it attracted widespread derision on social media.
Fergie later said was a "risk taker" but acknowledged that her jarring version of the anthem "didn't strike the intended tone".
"I've always been honoured and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA," she said in a statement to US entertainment media.
