Brisbane is set to be transformed by Lunar New Year celebrations with a stunning array of performances to mark the Year of the Dog.
Queen Street Mall will host acts by dragons, lion dancers and bamboo pole performers, a Chinese orchestra and Kung Fu display across the weekend.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said celebrations of Asian culture demonstrated the city's strong ties to the region.
"Holding Lunar New Year celebrations in the heart of the city highlights Brisbane's recognition of this important tradition throughout the Asia Pacific," Mr Quirk said.
The new lunar year, also known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated in several countries including China, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Chinese New Year marks the start of the Lunar Calendar, with the date of the new lunar year changing each year.
