HAWKESBURY City Little Athletics hosted former Australian athletics champion Melinda Gainsford-Taylor at their facility on Sunday for a speed clinic.
Gainsford-Taylor was an Australian athletics competitor, who competed at the 1994 Commonwealth Games winning silver and bronze medals.
On Sunday, she ran a clinic for 32 athletes, including 12 from Hawkesbury City Little Athletics, and was a hit according to club president Scott Brown, who hopes to have her back at the club in the future.
“Most of the kids walked away with a smile on their face, which was the best part. A lot of the adults walked away smiling too,” he said.
“It was a speed clinic. She did a good warm up and went through a couple of relays and then got a little bit more technical.
“She showed them how to do things like a crouch start, stand start. She was very hands on.”
