The Hawkesbury’s got talent … damn right it does, and we want to uncover a fresh diamond.
Today marks the launch of We Are Hawkesbury: The Sound in which we aim to give a leg up to a local singer-songwriter.
Entries to the competition are open to independent-unsigned singer-songwriters who call Hawkesbury home.
Entrants must be aged 16 and over, be able perform an original composition, and be able to accompany themselves musically.
A group of 15 finalists will be chosen from the entry submissions. They will be randomly placed into three groups.
Each will be filmed performing their composition and the public will decide upon a winner for the three groups.
A judging panel, including Bowen Mountain recording artist Imogen Clark, will then determine the winner.
They will receive and exciting prize pack, which includes the recording of a two-track single and a performance on the main stage on each day of this year’s Hawkesbury Show [April 20, 21 and 22]. Full prize pack announced in coming weeks.
Entrants must be available for filming by the Gazette from March 12 to 17 (excluding March 14).
To enter, send a link to a video or sound file of yourself playing an original track and a brief write-up about yourself to mlawrence@fairfaxmedia.com.au. Entries close Wednesday, February 28.
