HAWKESBURY Council gave permission for a new childcare centre catering for 101 children to be built at Smith Road, Oakville.
The development application (DA0107/17) was approved unanimously by all 12 Hawkesbury councillors at the January 30 meeting, after it was deferred in August last year.
A number of conditions were placed on the approved DA, including the developer placing 90-metres of kerb and gutter and road widening along Smith Road.
Previously councillors heard neighbours’ concerns about traffic, noise, storage of rubbish and also how close the centre would be to fence line of one neighbour.
Most of those issues were addressed by the developers, represented on the night by Elias Saleh.
“The car parking spaces were increased to 37 at Council's request,” he said.
“The front setback was increased from 29 to 34-metres, the side set backs were increased to seven metres creating a larger landscape buffer zone to aid further visual and acoustic privacy and the garbage storage area was relocated to the northern side of the property.”
Liberal councillor Nathan Zamprogno, who lives in Oakville, said he was happy to support the DA after the developers addressed the issues raised in August.
A condition which would have limited children to a maximum of two hours play outside each day was removed from the DA, after Liberal councillor Tiffany Tree asked for it.
