Six talented young sports star have each received $500 towards the cost of their respective pursuits from the federal government.
Macquarie MP Susan Templeman presented Kalista Plummer, Meeri Lee, Molly Mamo, Renee Hardy, Emily Robertson-Hahn, and Griffin Barry with the funding under the Local Sporting Champions Grants.
Windsor athlete Ms Hardy competed in the Australian All Schools Athletics Championship in December, while soccer player Griffin Barry from Ebenezer recently competed in the FFA National Youth Championships.
Equestriennes Ms Lee, from Maraylya, and Ms Plummer, from Ebenezer, were successful in their grant applications after competing at the Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in Toowoomba.
Cattai’s Emily Robertson-Hahn and North Richmond’s Molly Mamo, both coached at local gym KSTP, received grants to assist them to attend a major international championship for tumbling in Sophia.
Ms Mamo went on to win gold at the 2017 GIV Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Competition.
The Local Sporting Champions program provides funding assistance to young sportsmen and women participating in a state, national or international sporting competition.
Round three of the Local Sporting Champions grant program is now open. Applications can be submitted on the Australian Institute of Sport website.
