HAWKESBURY cricketer Naomi Stalenberg and the Sydney Thunder shared match honours with the Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League at the weekend.
The Thunder and Strikers clashed at Wagga Wagga on both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday’s match saw the Thunder emerge victors, while Sunday’s went into a super over with the Strikers winning.
On Saturday, Stalenberg blasted 41 off 30 balls, including two sixes and four boundaries.
She took a pair of catches as well in the field as the Thunder won by 37 runs.
On Sunday, she was still batting at more than a run a ball, hitting 29 off 24, and taking another catch, to bring her weekend tally to three.
With both teams posting 114, the match went into a super over, and Stalenberg was given a chance to perform her big hitting role.
She made two runs off four balls before being bowled. The Strikers went on to score seven runs to the Thunder’s six and win the match, ensuring a good show for those watching.
The Thunder surrendered the top spot on the ladder to the Sydney Sixers, but they have the same number of wins.
There is a slim chance the Thunder could miss the finals, if they lose all three of the final games, but chances are they will feature next weekend.
The Thunder’s final three games are this week, starting tonight with a clash against the Melbourne Renegades in Canberra.
At the weekend, they will play a double header against the Brisbane Heat in Brisbane.
