Prince William, a balding middle-aged man, has followed in the footsteps of many before him and shaved his head.
The second-in-line to the throne debuted his new, closely-shaven hairdo while meeting armed forces veterans working for the UK's National Health Service and patients at the Evelina London Children's Hospital in Lambeth, south London.
William, 35, has often been publicly teased for his expanding bald spot.
When visiting the Sydney Royal Easter Show during their 2014 Australia tour, his wife Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, remarked that the alpaca wool on display could be used as a hairpiece.
"You need it more than me," she told her husband, gesturing towards his receding hairline.
At his son's wedding breakfast in 2011, Prince Charles reportedly also snuck in a jibe about his balding.
"The thing about growing older is that your children get taller than you so they can see your bald spots," he reportedly said. "Now in my case, I can see his."
