HAWKESBURY resident Darryl Willcox has issued a plea to people to clean up after themselves on Australia Day, particularly along Windsor Beach at Macquarie Park, where Wilcox walks most mornings.
Willcox contacted the Gazette last year, complaining about all the rubbish people, who he believes are mostly from out of the district, leave on the sandy spot.
Willcox walks the beach most mornings of the week, and it became so filthy he began taking it upon himself to clean it up.
While walking his dog, he takes a few plastic bags and a pair of gloves and picks up other people’s litter.
Willcox said used nappies were very common, as were discarded drink containers and fishing line.
He told the Gazette late last year that the beach had been much cleaner during the day, but recently said during holiday time it had started to become messier again.
