Hawkesbury wakeboarding sensation Nic Rapa has taken out the first stage of the Malibu Australian Open and Junior Series with a dominant win in Canberra last month.
The best wakeboarders in Australia hit the water at Molonglo River, ACT for the first stop in the competition, which will now move to Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge, SA on January 22.
“I went to Canberra for the first stop of the Aus Open series with winning in mind,” Rapa said.
“I train hard and do my run day in day out and knew that was all I had to do.
“Competition was tough but I managed to successfully complete my full run with two different double flip variations to take the win.
Rapa said his season ahead was looking like a big one with interstate and overseas competitions on the calendar.
“The month of March will take me to Western Australia, Melbourne, Argentina, and then Orlando Florida followed by Cancun Mexico shortly after that … lots of work to get stuck into.”
