THE Hawkesbury was well represented at the Australian Speed and Marathon skiing titles this year, with a number of our skiers taking out titles.
The titles were held at Jindabyne, near the Snowy Mountains, over four days, with most junior classes featuring a Hawkesbury skier somewhere in the placings.
Nellie McMillan won the open women’s while her brother Brock was second in the open men’s. Nellie’s friend and fellow Hawkesbury skier Haylee Gibson was third in the women’s.
Billy Pracey won the F2 Outboard, while Brock McMillan finished fourth in that class.
Chelsea Dingli won the disabled class and she was also fourth in the women’s open class.
McMillan won the under-19 boys marathon class, with Michael Boylan finishing third and Pracey fourth.
Jack Coaldrake won the unlimited inboard class, and also the under-19 boys. Boylan and McMillan were third and fourth in the under-19 boys, while Pracey was sixth.
Bradley Osmotherly finished second in the unlimited inboard and second in the under-19 boys. He was also third in the men’s open class.
Plenty of skiers picked up place finishes too.
Korey Galley was second in the under-16 boys, while his sister Taylor was second in the under-16 girls.
Boylan was second and Brock McMillan third in the modified outboard class.
Nellie McMillan was second in the under-16 girls and Gibson fourth.
Pracey was third in the unlimited outboard class and was second in the social men’s class. Gibson was third int he social women’s.
In the under-13s girls class, Tori McDonnell finished second.
Zak Armstrong was third in the under-13 boys, while his younger brother Will, who is just six years old, skied in his first Australian title race, finishing fourth in the under-10 boys class.
And while there were many junior skiers at the event, some of the senior events also featured Hawkesbury skiers.
Shontelle Armstrong placed second in the women’s 30-50 category.
Jonathan Lane was third in the 30-40 men’s category.
Nicole Lane won both the 30-40 women marathon category and also the 60-mile-per-hour category.
