HAWKESBURY Cricket Club’s Arjun Nair and the Sydney Thunder lost a thriller to the Sydney Sixers on Saturday night.
The Sixers scored two runs on the final ball of the match to secure an eight wicket victory, and the first win of their season.
Nair hit 17 off 17 in the match, but wasn’t able to hit a boundary or six.
He was caught in the deep by Jordan Silk after a hook shot went awry off the bowling of Moises Henriques.
Nair did claim one of two wickets for the Thunder as well.
After hitting him for a six earlier, Nair claimed Nic Maddinson for 28.
Maddinson misjudged one of Nair’s deliveries, and winding up for a big shot down the ground, ended up hitting it behind point, with Ben Rohrer taking a great overhead catch.
The Thunder have three wins from eight matches and are sixth on the ladder.
The Thunder’s next match will be against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Saturday, January 20.
