THE Hawkesbury District Tennis Association received $20,000 in grant money from the federal government to help with the ongoing redevelopment of its courts.
The courts in Richmond have needed an upgrade for a number of years, and Gavin and Ann-Maree Yip from Inside the Lines Tennis Academy – which operates out of the centre - have been seeking grant money to upgrade them, and last year also received money from the state government.
Ms Yip said many older players had been asking for the synthetic grass courts to be resurfaced for some time and the grant money would assist with the resurfacing of the courts.
The federal government’s Stronger Communities program saw the association receive $20,000.
Member for Macquarie Susan Templeman said $150,000 was available in the latest round of funding, and 20 other local groups also received money.
She said more grant funding would be awarded in the new year.
