The body of missing Sydney man Patrick Hahn has been found on the lower north shore.
The 25-year-old disappeared in the early hours of Friday morning after a night out, and police and his family had appealed for the public to help find him.
His disappearance sparked a search, and about 2.45pm on Christmas Day police found a man's body in the water in Hunters Hill.
Police are yet to formally identify the body, but they believe it is Mr Hahn.
On Facebook, his family said the support from everyone had been "tremendous".
"We have received some very sad news that confirms the passing of our brother, son and friend PJ," a family member wrote.
"We are appreciative for the efforts of family, friends, authorities and even strangers over the course of the past few days.
"We will love you forever and always PJ."
Mr Hahn had been drinking with mates at the Marlborough Hotel in Newtown on Thursday evening, before police believe he travelled by taxi to a spot on Victoria Road in Drummoyne about 1.15am on Friday.
Family said they had seen CCTV footage of Mr Hahn walking past the 7/11 on Victoria Road about 1.30am on Friday, but there was no trace of his whereabouts after that.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner. They believe the death is not suspicious.
