The Hills light up for annual Christmas light competition

The Hills lit up for the festive season with a competition to find the best Christmas light displays in the area.

The Hills District Christmas Lights Competition, which is hosted by the Aveo Bella Vista community, had more than $6000 worth of prizes on offer for the best displays in categories including Best Residential House, Best Residential Townhouse and Best Street.

Castle Hill’s Pam and Clifford Skipper from Grandoaks Place snagged the top spot of best street display.

Kerry Hough from Marcel Place, Baulkham Hills was awarded the best house prize.

Tony Parle from Minago Place, Castle Hill and Sarah Didsbury from Beacon Avenue, Glenhaven took second and third place respectively.

In addition to the prizes, Aveo Bella Vista also donated $4500 to Hills Community Aid to assist in the organisation’s efforts to support the Hills Shire residents with community services, programs and activities.

Aveo Bella Vista spokesperson Jason Eldering said he hoped the Hills District would be alight with colourful lighting displays and festive season sparkle.

“The Christmas season is such a wonderful time of year and I have so many fond childhood memories of going around the neighbourhood to see the Christmas lights with my family which was always such an exciting and enjoyable thing to do,” Mr Eldering said.

“We want to bring that sense of wonder and enjoyment to life this year, and we are really excited to see the creativity and fun that our neighbours will bring to their displays.

“Christmas is a time for communities to come together, which is something we always encourage at Aveo but particularly at this time of year, so we wanted to do something that would benefit our neighbours and bring them some festive season joy.”
