WHAT’S on at the library over summer? Windsor Library has great air-conditioning and heaps to do if you need to get the kids out of the house. Try these things:
- Summer Reading Club – Game On!
Until Wednesday, January 31 – Young readers can register and pick up a starter pack at Windsor or Richmond libraries, then dive into an assortment of books that celebrate our sporting culture. Be rewarded for every five books read. Books must be read between December 1 and January 31. Entries close 7pm on January 31. It’s free but registration is essential, for library members 16 and under.
- Giant Games
January 2-28 – Challenge your friends and family to a range of giant games, including Snakes and Ladders where you are the game-token, Connect4 that’s a metre high, or Noughts and Crosses with big pieces. Different games available each week. Free, no need to book.
- Funny Magic Show
Monday January 8 at 11am – Magician Peter Wood presents a show full of intrigue, laughter and surprise. Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre. Free but bookings essential.
- Family movie – Goosebumps
Thursday, January 11 at 2pm. When the monsters from the R.L. Stine Goosebumps series escape from their books and threaten everyone, it is up to Zach and Stine’s daughter Hannah to sort out the mayhem. Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre. It runs for 99 minutes and is free but bookings essential.
- 3D Printer Workshop
Tuesday, January 16 at 10.30am. For 10 years+. Using Tinkercad software, learn how to design and print your own 3D project. The item will be available to collect the following week. It’s at Windsor Library. Cost: $5. Bookings essential.
- Crafternoons
Learn how to make games of skill. On Thursday, January 18 at 2-4pm for 5 years+ it’s Juggling balls. Become a juggling pro using these balls. It’s at Richmond Library. Free but bookings essential. Then on Tuesday, January 23 from 2-4pm make a quoit set in the Stan Stevens Studio, Deerubbin Centre. Free, but bookings essential.
