George and Amal Clooney took the considerate step of alerting their fellow passengers to their babies' "squawking" on a recent British Airways flight. The couple, who welcomed twins, Alexander and Ella, six months ago, passed out a note to patrons seated near them in first class, complete with noise cancelling headphones.
Hand-written on personal stationery, with "George Clooney" embossed at the top, the notes stated simply,
"Our twins have just discovered SQUAWKING!! Hope this helps make the flight a little quieter."
According to reports, Quentin Tarantino was on the flight, and gladly accepted the custom-made, noise-canceling headphones, which featured Clooney's Casamigos tequila logo, but the babies didn't end up making any noise.
Clooney was reportedly worried about Ella, who he has described as looking "just like Amal" with "big, beautiful eyes" and Alexander, whom Clooney described as "a thug".
"He's a fat little boy, he laughs louder than everyone in the room; it's the funniest thing", Clooney told Extra in October.
The Clooneys have undoubtedly been influenced by the recent trend, whereby parents of babies hand out notes and lollies in order to placate passengers.
One such package went viral five years ago, after the parents of twin boys handed out notes apologising in advance in case the babies cried and included a packet of lollies along with earplugs in a self-sealing bag. One passenger posted the goodie bag to Reddit where it went on to be shared 1 million times.
'I was really, really nervous about getting on the flight with them,' their mother later said in an interview with the Daily Mail.
'There's always that stigma of getting on the plane with babies because people get annoyed if they're crying.'
The Clooneys, all too aware of such stigma, probably didn't want to take any chances.
We're left wondering why they didn't include lollies with their pre-emptive apology, although, a personal note from George is nothing to sneeze at.
