HAWKESBURY cricketer Naomi Stalenberg has had a great start to her Women’s Big Bash League season, tallying two innings where she scored at more than a run a ball.
Stalenberg and the Thunder played a pair of matches at North Sydney Oval at the weekend, winning one and losing another.
The first match of the WBBL season featured the Thunder taking on the Melbourne Renegades, with the Thunder securing an 11-run victory on Saturday.
Stalenberg came in to bat at number six and at a crucial point in the innings, with the score at 4-41.
She scored 38 off 25 balls in her innings before being stumped in what was a 76 run partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur.
Stalenberg hit six boundaries and a six in the innings which saw the Thunder total 200 runs.
She took a pair of catches in the second innings too.
On Sunday, the Thunder were taken down by their cross-town rivals the Sixers in a six wicket victory.
The second match saw the Thunder only score 6-142, with Stalenberg being run out on the final ball of the innings attempting to steal a run.
She made 23 off 17, including four boundaries, adding some much needed runs after some of her team mates fell cheaply to the Sixers’ bowling.
Stalenberg and the Thunder will play at Penrith’s Howell Oval on Saturday, in the only game to feature at the ground this season. The match will start at 1pm.
